John was unable to live in the county where he grew up because no provider was able to support him due to his significant behavioral challenges. He was at risk of being institutionalized. With the help of Wisconsin Coalition for Advocacy and his mother, John started services with REM Wisconsin in Dane County.

Jean Sonnenberg has been a direct care staff at Sienna Crest in Fort Atkinson for almost 2 ½ years. She has been a lead care staff for the last year. Her caring and knowledge of the residents has earned her compliments from outside agencies and families too numerous to count. Hospice has commented that they appreciate the quality of care Jean provides and are always impressed by her knowledge of the resident’s background.

After I was out of high school I knew I wanted to help people. I became a CNA and just stuck with it. I trained for and worked as a CNA at Villa Loretta in Mt. Calvary, WI. There I cared for persons in a small home-like community.

LOUISE MANKOWSKI
Louise Mankowski is a certified nursing assistant. She goes above and beyond frequently for the people she cares for. Co-workers agreed that Louise should be considered for a special recognition. Recently, she saved the life of a client by performing CPR. She has worked with this person for years and the incident was very upsetting for her, but she performed CPR calmly and successfully. The client’s mother and family are very grateful to her, as is the client.
