BRIAN HESTERLY
"I really enjoy being able to have a positive impact in the lives of the people I care for. There is nothing more rewarding than the appreciation and love that they have given me on a daily basis."

My name is Brian Hesterly and I’m from Madison. I have helped care for my grandfather who has been suffering from Alzheimer’s for the past 5 years, and I also assist a woman that has rheumatoid arthritis. I really enjoy being able to have a positive impact in the lives of the people I care for. There is nothing more rewarding than the appreciation and love that they have given me on a daily basis.

I have been an active union member with SEIU Local 150 and I have attended many forums and hearings in Madison. I have volunteered in Chicago to help organize new members, spoke at the budget hearing in support of Governor Doyle’s Medicaid plan, and I have been visiting other SEIU members (home care workers) providing them with info about forums, bills that would affect caregivers and our clients, and upcoming rallies/events.
